“Be yourself. Everyone else is taken.”
Don’t you love it when something unique and different grabs your attention? I’m drawn to things that make me take notice. This doesn’t happen often, but when it does the experience is implanted in my memory and I rave about it forever.
One of my favorite restaurants in DC, Estadio, is a tapas place that not only has delicious food, but also has THE BEST gin and tonics I have ever had. The drinks are so good that I make everyone order one regardless of whether or not they drink gin. It’s just that good and unique. Everyone loves it and it ends up being a discussion topic in and of itself.
This drink is so uniquely superior, that it’s become the only place I will order a gin and tonic. I love this drink so much that it got me wondering why other places could settle for being just average. If Estadio found a way to make a gin and tonic stand out, why are other restaurants using the same ol’ basic recipe?
It’s simple. It’s easy to be average.
Similar to how many people live their lives, being average and blending in has become the norm. You see what someone else is doing and you simply copy that. The flaw in this logic is that you assume that what worked for someone else will work for you. While it may be easy to be average, it’s easier to be yourself.
By being yourself, you showcase the special gifts that make you stand out. Everyone was designed uniquely by God to offer the world someone different. Why not take your own God-given ingredients and create an award winning recipe like Estadio? I guarantee others will rave about it.
Watch the video below of this awesome little girl being 100% herself. She obviously knew the choreography like the other girls, but did it in her own unique way and stole the show.
