Leadership is the ability to set a common goal and inspire collective action to achieve that goal, regardless of circumstances. My personal leadership philosophy is rooted in the belief that action begins with me: I model behaviors that I expect individuals to exhibit. Individuals can be leaders at all levels of an organization by exhibiting behaviors, living values, and generating ideas that help achieve a common goal.
In my view, leadership requires three key elements:
- Personal Awareness – an understanding of self through identification of your behaviors, strengths, values and motivations
- Emotional Intelligence – the capacity to recognize the needs of others and create a reservoir of positivity that unleashes the best in people
- Skill Acquisition – a commitment to learn, practice and execute in order to master a skill
This “leadership trinity” is the foundation to my success as a business professional, and it is the foundation of the action plans I shape and create to help others identify and achieve their own success.
This philosophy not only shapes how I navigate my own career, but is also the foundation of the action plans I develop to help others identify and achieve their own success.
